Short answer: you will find almost no ube powder in Dutch supermarkets. You can find it at Asian grocery stores, and you can order it directly online. Below is what is actually available at each store, checked in October 2026.
Is ube powder available in supermarkets?
Albert Heijn
Albert Heijn does not sell ube powder. They do have an article about ube and occasionally ube bakery products, such as the ube blueberry muffins that are only available in stores. The fresh purple sweet potato they used to stock is no longer part of the range.
Jumbo
Jumbo stocks an ube latte powder from the brand Baru, 250 grams for 7.95 euros. Check the ingredients list, which is clearly stated on their product page: sugar, glucose syrup, coconut oil, 9 percent ube powder, emulsifier and stabilizer. Sugar is therefore the first ingredient and it contains 9 percent ube. This is a ready-made latte mix, not ube powder.
Plus, Lidl, Aldi and Dirk
A search for ube at Plus yields no results. We found no ube powder in the online range at Lidl, Aldi and Dirk. This does not mean it is never available, only that it is not available online at the moment.
Holland and Barrett, Kruidvat and Etos
We found no ube powder there either. It is searched for a lot, probably because people expect it in the superfoods section.
At Asian grocery stores
This is where you are most likely to find it offline. Filipino and Asian grocery stores often stock ube powder from brands such as Fil Choice and Miki's, usually 100 to 115 grams for around 4 euros. Large Asian supermarkets sometimes also stock fresh purple yam.
Two things to pay attention to: the composition varies by brand and is not always clearly stated on the packaging, and the color and taste differ considerably from batch to batch.
Online
Online you have the most choice and can read the ingredients list beforehand. This is the main difference with stores: on the shelf you cannot always see how much ube is actually in it.
At UBE.25 you can order 100 grams of ube powder for 19.50 euros. It contains 99.7 percent ube and 0.3 percent natural vanilla, with no added sugar and no coloring. One bag makes about 50 lattes, so about 39 cents per cup. Ordered before 11:59 p.m. on a working day, it is shipped the same night, and shipping is free from 2 items.
What to look for when buying ube powder?
- The percentage of ube. This is the difference between powder and latte mix. A mix of 9 percent ube is mostly sugar.
- Added sugar. If sugar is at the beginning of the ingredients list, it determines the taste.
- Coloring. Ube is naturally purple due to anthocyanins. There is no need for coloring.
- Amount per cup. Calculate how much a latte costs you, not just how much the bag costs. Some brands recommend 8 to 10 grams per cup, which means a bag will run out much faster.
- Origin. Ube originally comes from the Philippines. This is not stated on every package.

Frequently asked questions
Does Albert Heijn sell ube powder?
No. AH does have a page about ube and sometimes ube baked goods, but no powder.
Does Jumbo stock ube powder?
Jumbo stocks an ube latte powder with 9 percent ube in which sugar is the first ingredient. They do not stock pure ube powder.
What is the best ube powder?
That depends on what you use it for. For lattes and baking you want a high percentage of ube and no added sugar, so you can decide how sweet it will be. For a quick ready-made drink, a mix is easier, but then you are mainly paying for sugar.
Can you buy fresh ube in the Netherlands?
Sometimes, at large Asian supermarkets, as purple yam. Fresh ube must be steamed and puréed before you use it. Powder is therefore more practical for drinks and baking.
Can I order ube powder in Belgium?
Yes, we ship to Belgium. The shipping costs are 4.95 euros and it is free from 35 euros.
